My old desktop computer crashed and refused to turn on. So I went out and bought a HP Laptop. Also Bought one of those Hard Drive USB converters on Ebay for like $9. Hooked up the old Desktop Hard Drive to my Laptop’s USB port and it worked. Only when I opened the folder there were only like 19 files out of the 100s I had on my old computer. Is there any way I can buy a better converter that will extract all of my files i used to have. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S - The Hard drive was never damaged in any way

My motherboard recently crashed and I replaced everything in the system. I reinstalled XP onto a new hard drive and hooked up old HD as a slave. When I open that HD some of my files are there, but not all of them. Particularly, things that were saved to the desktop. Is there any way to recover these missing files? They were mainly family pics, jpgs.

I have a Maxtor harddrive that crashed over a year ago (it was about 15 months old when it crashed).

Is there a way to cheaply extract the data? Can I simply switch out the harddrive disk with another harddrive disk?

Is there a cheap service that can extract the data?

I have TONS of pictures, video, and music on that harddrive that I really need to gain access to.

Please help!

Computer A crashed, well the power supply burnt up or something (you could smell smoke). Put Computer A’s harddrive into computer B which works, CA’s harddrive shows up but if I click “My Document and Settings” Folder, it says access denied even though the computer was not password protected an it also says the file is empty. It shouldn’t be empty and it should open. Won’t even work if I go Adminstrator in SafeMode.
I did try using harddrive A has the master for computer B, but it just kept restarting.
