If i intall itunes, it will ask to update and connect to ipod, im afraid that it will erase what i already have on the ipod.

My old desktop computer crashed and refused to turn on. So I went out and bought a HP Laptop. Also Bought one of those Hard Drive USB converters on Ebay for like $9. Hooked up the old Desktop Hard Drive to my Laptop’s USB port and it worked. Only when I opened the folder there were only like 19 files out of the 100s I had on my old computer. Is there any way I can buy a better converter that will extract all of my files i used to have. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S - The Hard drive was never damaged in any way

Yeah well i was trying to download Sim City 4 to my computer, and it didnt work and then when i restarted my computer, it couldnt start cause i guess it extracted files. (Thats what my friend said) He said it did that cause i was installing it and uninstalling it alot. So 2 questions, is that why it lost a file and couldnt start up? And, will the same thing happen to a diffrent computer if i try to download to another computer?

I have a Maxtor harddrive that crashed over a year ago (it was about 15 months old when it crashed).

Is there a way to cheaply extract the data? Can I simply switch out the harddrive disk with another harddrive disk?

Is there a cheap service that can extract the data?

I have TONS of pictures, video, and music on that harddrive that I really need to gain access to.

Please help!
